The paper deals with the history of development the concept of Biblia from Origen’s Hexapla through Cassiodorus Senator’s treatises, Alcuin’s revision of the Latin teхt and one volume Sorbonne Latin scripturae to the present Biblia of the early printing epoch (the 15th century). Some remarks on the history of the concept of the Holy Scripture in Slavonic area are added.
