Divination was extremely important and central to the life of the ancient Greeks, and the major gods in this sphere were Zeus and Apollo. But, besides these two gods, there was a number of other deities that were also associated, in one way or another, with divination and knowledge of what would happen. Thus, according to some ancient authors, Hera, Demeter and Poseidon, who were not traditionally identified as oracular or related to the foreknowledge of the future, had their own oracles in their sanctuaries at Perachora, Patrai and Cape Tainaron. Based on the literary sources and the analysis of the material evidence from these places, the article seeks an answer to the question why these three deities were associated with divination, to what extent they were really worshiped as oracular in these sanctuaries, what forms of divination were used there, etc.
