The Beginning of Bulgarian Education in the Byzantine Literary Tradition (11th–12th c.)

Summary: 

The most important moments throughout the initial period of educational activity in Early Medieval Bulgaria are presented in the article, according to their reflection in the Byzantine-Bulgarian literary tradition of the Ohrid Archdiocese. In this regard, the information about the preaching and teaching activity of St. Clement sent among his newly converted flock in South-West Bulgaria by Tsar Boris at the end of the 9th century, is examined according to some significant hagiographic and apocryphal works from the 11th–12th centuries.
